Yes, you read that right.
Rats and cooking. Quite the combo! But don't worry.
This particular group is super careful about
being very clean. The word on the street is that
they just might be cleaner than your mom!

It is suspected some eagles like to chase
prairie rats and make them become their personal manicurists and insurance agents. Never let your guard down with these
clever ones!
The Goal of the
Challenge
To produce the most delicious, most yummy dinner from ingredients that have been
grown close to where they live and
grown by folks who grow amazing food regeneratively and organically.
Whoa! That sounds like a lot of
gobble-dee-gook!
What in the world does that mean???
It is really pretty simple. It means growing food close to the people eating the food,
so it has a short trip to get to them.
The shorter trip means the food stays
nice and fresh.
It means growing food so it is super healthy because no weird chemicals were used
to help them grow.
It also means the farmer did their best to make sure that the soil the food was
grown in was taken care of and not hurt. When they do that, not only is the dirt happy, the planet and climate are too.
(AND YOU KNOW WHAT?
WHATEVER WE CAN DO TO MAKE VEGGIES TASTE BETTER IS A REALLY GOOD THING IF YOU ASK ME!!)
Folks, it has been a real nail-biter!
A cliff-hanger!
A cooking challenge full of so much suspense that you could only sit on the edge of your seat and cover your eyes!
Wait! No! Uncover them!
The Actual Cooking
The rats were clean to a fault. You could
eat off the floor of their cooking stations.
I don't advise it, but even your moms (and grandmas!) would be mighty impressed. However, a few dishes caught on fire. Thank goodness for fire extinguishers. They are a rat's best friend! There were crispy tops, greasy fries, runny breads, flaring tempers, food fights, stinky cheeses, a few tears, sunken souffles, spilled beans, some hearty belches, and rat hair in the pies, but most importantly lots and lots of laughter and many words of encouragement!
And so now you are likely asking ...
WHO WAS THE WINNER?
(drumroll please)
DEREK!!!
His advantage? His dinner was heads and tails above the rest! He knew his ingredients had to be fresh and taste amazing. And he knew exactly what made them the best ... awesome farmers who grew all their food organically and regeneratively!
So he made darn tootin sure he got all his ingredients from them and then did his best
to cook a scrumptious dinner that would
make everyone proud!
The grand prize? A brand new mixer plus
some cute salt and pepper shakers too!
And after a tiring day of being on his little furry feet and cooking to the best of his ability, Derek settled down for a very long snooze cuddled up by his lovely prizes!
