Welcome to Pella Crossing, located just south of Hygiene, Colorado. Making the world a better place!

A place of pure serenity

Pella Crossing is another story of a gravel mine operation being donated and transformed into a wonderful area of nature to be enjoyed by many! A portion of this Boulder County park was donated to Boulder County by Frontier Materials, Inc. and another portion was purchased from the Marlatt family. It officially opened to the public in 1996. Within its 250 acres are ponds, wetlands, and gravel trails.

I have a handful of beautiful places I visit to un-wind and de-stress and feel close to nature and this is certainly one of them. There is a large variety of birds, especially geese. It is filled with trees and wild grasses and wildflowers. The views of the nearby fields and mountains are pure serenity and beauty. Pella Crossing is enjoyed by many and you can almost always count on fellow walkers to say "Hello!" and give you a cheery smile!

I discovered Pella Crossing while I was living in nearby Longmont. I loved walking there, immersing myself in the beauty and peacefulness. It is a superb place to take nature pictures. In fact, one of my galleries features photos I have taken there (A Beautiful Wetlands Habitat). Even though I have moved to the other side of the Denver area, I still visit Pella Crossing whenever I can.

How wonderful is it that the owners of a gravel mining company decided to donate their land so it could become a treasure of nature to be enjoyed by all! I am so very thankful for the decisions made by companies like this that create places of beauty and happiness!

Cheers to those who are making the world

a wonderful place to live!
