Welcome to a grain elevator that is pure art!
In a small town north of Denver is a grain elevator that will make you do a double take when you see it. To me it is simply art at its best! A colorful mural depicting the family values of the local agricultural area adorns the side of a historical grain elevator in Berthoud, Colorado. And it is making the world a better place!
The mural is the most beautiful, heart-warming scene. I love the simplicity of the young family. There is a joy and happiness to it that is so pure. The richness of the colors of the their clothes, countryside, mountains, and sky is beautiful. And the detail of the scene is amazing!
When I look at this work of art on this grain elevator, which was built in 1885, I am struck by how someone decided to make that small corner of the world a more beautiful and uplifting place. Those behind this amazing project are artist-muralist Susan Dailey and artist Eleanor Yates, along with the many who helped with the installation of the mural. Interestingly, it is made up of 55 acrylic panels, 5' x 5' each, that were secured to the elevator. It was by no means an easy project. Many, many hours and much work went into it. It was completed and dedicated in 2005.
What an awesome way to bring some beauty and appreciation of family values and local history to our world! I love how it imparts a feeling of Americana and small town simplicity. Colorful and fun murals are scattered across our country and I personally am very, very glad there are so many artists sharing their talent with us to bring beauty to our world. These murals entertain us, grab our attention, make otherwise boring buildings something pleasing to look at, and cheer us up. It is a terrific way of improving our communities and making our world a better place! A very big thanks to all the artists and muralists!
