Is There
Something Higgledy-Piggledy
Going On?
(Or Am I Just Imagining It???)
Something was odd.
Things seemed higgly-piggly,
a little goofy,
a tad off-center.
Many of our friends in nature
knew the weather had been
acting a little strange.
They couldn't figure out
what exactly it was.
They were pretty sure
the weather just wasn't the same
as it used to be.
But were they imagining it???
Marv said it rained
too much, snowed too much, and the wind blew too much.
Then Oscar said it
didn't rain enough,
it didn't snow enough,
and the wind didn't
blow enough.
To be honest,
it was getting on Frank's nerves.
He wasn't a jolly fellow to start with and this was getting him grumpier
than usual!
Well, it seems they were not entirely imagining it. Weather has always
been somewhat unpredictable,
but it has been changing for awhile.
For instance, our changing weather is
making us sweat more
(and need more deodorant!)
because it is getting a bit warmer.
It is making us drag out our umbrellas more because our rainstorms are
getting bigger and lasting longer.
And this changing weather is partly because of how our climate
has changed.
The climate has changed
because of the silly things humans
have been doing for awhile,
things that they really ought to
have known not to do,
things that were bad for the climate.
What were those goofy humans thinking?
Not cool!
So yes, the weather has been
higgledy-piggledy, a tad wonky,
and out of sorts.
But we need to reassure Marv, Oscar, and Frank that there are
a great number of folks working on it. They are doing their best to make
our weather not so higgledy-piggledy
in the future.
And there are also lots and lots of kids doing what they can to help the climate
and learn about ways to make
both today and the future better.
Kids are amazing!
You guys are able to do more than
you can ever imagine to make
this world a better place for everyone,
including our friends in nature!!!
